A Kashmir Shaivism Inspired Perspective on Will, Alignment, and the Courage to Act
In the classical chakra system, the Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with personal power, motivation, discipline, and the ability to take action. It governs our sense of direction, our capacity to choose, and our ability to follow through. Yet when viewed through the lens of Kashmir Shaivism, this center may reveal a deeper and more sacred dimension. We suggest that it may become the energy center where we align our personal will with that of the divine will: Icchā Śakti, the power of consciousness to move, express, and create.
In this tradition, will is not seen as a personal force that we must strengthen or discipline. It is seen as the natural movement of consciousness when it recognizes itself as whole. Motivation may arise when we are aligned with our true nature. Decision making may become clear when we trust the inner intelligence that guides us. Action may become effortless when it flows from the recognition of what is true.
The Solar Plexus Chakra may become distorted when we believe that we are separate from this inner intelligence. When we think we must force ourselves to pursue certain outcomes. When we doubt our path. When we fear making the wrong choice. In this state, motivation may become inconsistent, decisions may become stressful, and action may become entangled with fear, procrastination, or perfectionism.
But when the Solar Plexus Chakra is aligned with Icchā Śakti, motivation may become a natural expression of clarity. Decision making may become an act of recognition. Discipline may become devotion. Action may become the expression of your inner truth. We may feel a deep trust that the same intelligence that moves the universe is moving us.
Three Dimensions of Motivation and Decision Making
The Motivation and Decision assessment is designed to help reveal how your Solar Plexus energy expresses itself across three dimensions. These dimensions may help you understand how consciousness is currently expressing its will through you.
Assessment questions:
This dimension may serve to reflect your relationship with clarity and direction. In Kashmir Shaivism, clarity arises when the mind is aligned with the deeper intelligence of the Self. Purpose may be something we recognize, as the natural movement of Icchā Śakti expressing itself through us.
When this dimension is strong, you know what matters. You can prioritize without confusion. You can stay connected to your inner compass. You make decisions that feel true. You can sense when you are drifting away from alignment and gently return.
When this dimension is weak, clarity may become clouded by doubt, external pressure, or fear of disappointing others. Prioritization may become difficult. The path may feel confusing or overwhelming. Decisions may feel heavy rather than natural.
Assessment questions:
This dimension may serve to reveal your relationship with motivation and the courage to act. In Kashmir Shaivism, motivation arises from alignment with divine will. When we are connected to our true nature, enthusiasm may become this overflowing of bliss, of Cit-Ānanda, Consciousness-Bliss. Enthusiasm comes from the Greek word enthousiasmos, which translates into "Inspired by god," "Divine Inspiration." Action may then become a natural expression of this inspiration and clarity.
When this dimension is strong, you feel energized, committed, and willing to take steps even when the outcome is uncertain. You can move through resistance. You can stay devoted to what matters.
When this dimension is weak, motivation may become inconsistent. Procrastination may arise. Fear of failure or fear of success may block action. The mind may seek comfort rather than truth.
Assessment questions:
This dimension may serve to reflect your relationship with decision making and adaptability. Inspired by Kashmir Shaivism, we suggest to see decision making not purely as a mental process, but as an act of recognition: the ability to sense what is aligned with your deeper nature. We see adaptability as the willingness to remain fluid while staying true to your inner direction.
When this dimension is strong, you can make decisions with clarity and confidence. You can adjust your approach without losing your center. You can respond to change without collapsing into fear. You trust the intelligence that guides you.
When this dimension is weak, decisions may feel heavy or overwhelming. You may overthink, hesitate, or fear making mistakes. Adaptability may become difficult. You may cling to old strategies even when they no longer serve you.
Motivation as the Movement of Icchā Śakti
In the texts translated by Jaideva Singh, Mark Dyczkowski, and Christopher Wallis, Icchā-Śakti is described as the power of will, the creative impulse behind manifestation, and the force that moves consciousness toward expression.
In Tantra Illuminated, Christopher Wallis describes Icchā-Śakti as "the precognitive creative urge toward Self-expression. It is the impulse behind the manifestation of a universe and behind all artistic expression that is done for its own sake."
When we are aligned with Icchā Śakti, motivation arises naturally. Decision making becomes clear. Action becomes effortless. We trust the inner intelligence that guides us. We feel moved rather than forced. We may experience this as overflowing, a pure desire to share our Self with the world without seeking to grasp for anything.
When we are disconnected from Icchā Śakti, motivation may become inconsistent. Decisions may become stressful. Action may become entangled with fear. We may try to force ourselves to act a certain way, rather than allowing action to arise from clarity. In the Chakralytics framework, we align with seeing the Solar Plexus Chakra as the energetic center where this alignment becomes evident: where personal will and divine will meet, where we learn to trust the movement of consciousness within us.
These practices are aimed to help you reconnect with the natural movement of Icchā Śakti. They are meant to help create the conditions in which clarity and action may arise naturally.
What may help is to keep a journal, and have a morning inner compass check-in after your meditation, or maybe even keep it next to you during meditation so you can write things down when they come up. Feel what works. Sometimes the clearing of to-do thoughts may help with deepening the meditation. The action list created may then serve as a kind of checklist during the day, to keep focus on what matters instead of drifting off.
Notice what brings a sense of enthusiasm. And in this context, we do not merely mean what brings excitement. Enthusiasm comes from the Greek word enthousiasmos, which translates into "Inspired by god," "Divine Inspiration." It is attuning to this deep divine inspiration; it goes deeper than superficial excitements or wants and needs. Consciously focusing on aligning with this, and action may then become a natural expression of this inspiration and clarity.
Choose one small action each day that may help you move toward what matters. This practice may help in dissolving procrastination and builds trust in your ability to act.
Challenging yourself to go somewhere new or doing something new every once in a while. Going out of your comfort zone, exploring new ventures, placing yourself in new situations. This may help in building Self-confidence and deepening trust in your capability to handle new or unfamiliar situations.
The Veils Behind Solar Plexus Contraction
Solar Plexus challenges arise from the three malas, which can be translated into the three impurities or the veils of ignorance.
This veil may create an experience in which we perceive limited trust in our own capacity and limited clarity about our inner direction. The will to act may not feel like a natural expression of who we are.
This veil may create an experience in which we perceive limited connection to a guiding intelligence within. Aligned decision making may feel challenging to access when we may not recognize our underlying unity with the whole.
This veil may create an experience in which we perceive limited freedom in decision making. The natural and auspicious unfolding of our choices may feel challenging to trust.
We suggest to see the patterns that have arisen from these limited perceptions as reflections of what we carry within us. They may be seen as Samskaras, stuck emotions and misaligned beliefs, waiting to be recognized. When met and embraced from a place of knowing, unconditional love and acceptance, they may stream again and dissolve.
How Chakralytics Helps You Align with Your True Will
Chakras are commonly known as seven main energy centers that shape our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. While interpretations vary across traditions, we find that this sevenfold framework may offer a powerful lens for self-awareness and energetic harmonization. Chakralytics seeks to honor and adapt this ancient system for contemporary self-awareness and energetic insight.
By intuitive self-assessments, Chakralytics generates a dynamic snapshot of your chakra system, according to the Chakralytics Framework. From root to crown. In this way you may discover which centers are thriving, which may need attention, and how your energy evolves over time. Each individual Chakra Assessment focuses on three major themes of our lived experience.
The Chakra Sadhana Course provides a twice daily ritual designed to move this stuck energy. Through devotion, self-love and acceptance and targeted visualization, you are invited to embrace and dissolve contractions, stuck emotions, samskaras and misaligned belief systems, and allow yourself to deepen clarity and align with divine will.
We have curated a Garden of Teachings, a selection of books that explain the non-dual nature of existence from mostly a Kashmir Shaivism perspective. We might suggest works such as Tantra Illuminated, The Recognition Sutras, Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam, and The Doctrine of Vibration. Each of these texts may help with deepening the understanding that your true nature is already whole, complete, and aligned with divine will.
Personal guidance to help you deepen your Self-confidence in navigating decisions, dissolving fear, and aligning your actions with your true nature.
Motivation and making decisions from a place of clarity may arise naturally when the Solar Plexus Chakra is free from contraction. Based on the teachings of Kashmir Shaivism, we suggest that when you align with Self and with Icchā Śakti, clarity arises, motivation flows, and decisions become acts of recognition. You may feel a deep trust in the inner intelligence that guides you. You may act from truth rather than fear. You may walk your path with devotion rather than force.
The Chakralytics Show is a playlist aimed to share content with the purpose to support reflection, Self-inquiry, deepened Self-understanding, Self-alignment and inner harmonization. Our intention is to dive into Chakra Work, Spiritual Awakening, Self-Alignment and Chakralytics.
