In the Chakralytics framework, the Root Chakra (Muladhara) is the foundation of the entire energetic system. While the first pillar explores your physical environment, the second pillar: Finances and Stability examines your relationship with the flow of resources.
In a world that often measures worth by the size of a bank account, Chakralytics invites a radical shift in perspective. Instead of focusing on accumulation, we explore the experience of being supported, the trust in your own capabilities, and the path toward true spiritual and material self-sufficiency.
In Kashmir Shaivism, the universe is described as pūrṇatā: completely full, lacking nothing. Everything you encounter is a manifestation of Śakti, the dynamic power of Consciousness (Cit). Money, in this view, is not unspiritual or impure. It is a symbolic condensation of support, a form of energy that reflects your relationship with the manifest world.
At the heart of Kashmir Shaivism lies the doctrine of svātantrya: the absolute, self-sufficient freedom of consciousness (Śiva). Unlike Vedāntic models that posit a passive, witness-like Brahman, Shaiva sources insist that the world is actively willed into existence by the sovereign will (svātantrya) of Śiva.
Abhinavagupta, in the , describes this as: Shiva nature, which is complete (and all embracing) consciousness and unobstructed action. We find this back in other sources: "Consciousness, complete, free and independent, is the cause of the performance of everything. He unfolds the universe through His own will and on His own canvas".
Financial stability, in this view, is not merely the result of external circumstances but is rooted in the recognition of one's innate svātantrya: The capacity to create, sustain, and transform one's world from a place of fullness rather than lack.
True financial stability is not defined by a number in a bank account. It is the inner recognition that your needs are met because you are aligned with the source of all manifestation.
A yogi may possess nothing yet feel completely secure. A billionaire may live in constant anxiety. The difference lies not in external wealth, but in the degree to which the malas, the veils of ignorance, obscure the truth of inherent wholeness. This is the insight of pratyabhijñā, the recognition that you are already complete.
As described in The Recognition Sutras and Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam, the sense of lack is not a material condition but a contraction of awareness. When you say, "I feel at ease with my financial situation," you are measuring how deeply you have recognized your own svātantrya.
The sixteen questions in this assessment pillar are designed to bypass the math of your life and touch the felt sense of your foundation. They map three key dimensions of financial stability:
Statements like "I feel secure knowing my basic needs are met" or "I trust in my ability to support those I care about" measure your foundational trust. When the Root Chakra is contracted, the nervous system remains in survival mode. This contraction, rooted in āṇava mala, is the impurity of individuality or the primal sense of smallness. It is the belief that you are limited and powerless. The belief that something is missing. It prevents you from experiencing the abundance that is your nature.
Statements such as "I feel empowered in my financial independence" and "I trust in my resources and capabilities to handle unexpected challenges" express your innate agency. In Kashmir Shaivism, you are not a passive subject of fate. The deepest layer of your being is Śiva, the supreme agent, whose freedom (svātantrya) manifests as your own capacity to act, create, and respond. Your skills, creativity, and resilience are expressions of Śakti, the living power of consciousness.
The concept of saṃskāra (mental impressions or habitual tendencies) is central to both classical Shaiva psychology and modern behavioral science. In the context of finances, saṃskāras manifest as ingrained patterns, beliefs about money, self-worth, risk, and security, that shape one's actions, reactions and experience.
The Pratyabhijñā texts teach that these patterns are not fixed; they are the result of past identifications and can be dissolved through recognition and practice. Financial habits, whether of scarcity or excess, are seen as contracted forms of the universal power of action (kriyā-śakti) and can be reoriented through self-inquiry and meditative awareness.
Stability is not only about income. It is also about rhythm. Statements like "I feel balanced between effort and rest" and "I protect my physical well-being with loving boundaries" highlight that stability is a physical practice.
In the Spanda Kārikās, the pulsation of Consciousness is described as unmeṣa and nimeṣa. In other words: Appearance and Disappearance or Manifestation and Absorption. In this context I would interpret it as we go out into the world, an extraverted movement and we return to our Self, an introverted movement. Without honoring this rhythm, the body may burn out, and the mind may lose clarity. We have time of action and time of rest.
Supported by research on the , we may say that ritual clarity, essentialization of practice, and self-chosen boundaries may be ways to support the practitioner's stability and alignment with the Self.
A modern articulation inspired by the research on the :
While inner realization is essential, the Root Chakra may also benefit from practical, Earth-element actions to ground your intentions.
The assessment asks if you manage finances with clarity and calm. Do you feel at ease with your financial situation, or does it leave you stressed out every month? If you avoid looking at your bank statements, you reinforce the veil of ignorance (avidyā). We suggest spending time to simply observe your numbers without judging yourself. What are you spending money on, what feels needed and what feels like excessive spending? This is a practice of self-inquiry.
If your financial life feels heavy, simplify. This is not about deprivation. It is about reducing static so you can feel more spacious and free. In the upward movement of the tattvas, contraction dissolves into clarity. Simplification mirrors this return to essence.
To balance effort and rest, set a clear end to your work day. Protecting your physical well-being may also serve as a financial strategy — nurturing your resources. A rested, clear mind may help in making conscious decisions.
List five of your unique capabilities: your ability to learn, your kindness, your technical skills, your creativity, your resilience. This reinforces your confidence in inner resources.
The root cause of financial instability is rarely the amount of money you have. It is usually a samskara, a deep impression, that the universe is a place of scarcity. This fear creates a stuck vibration in the Root Chakra that attracts experiences of lack.
Kashmir Shaivism's psychological model is both precise and transformative. The sense of lack or insecurity is not an objective fact but a contracted identification with the belief that something is missing or is wrong with you, āṇava māla. Modern psychology echoes this insight: beliefs about scarcity, self-worth, and agency shape financial behavior.
To shift from survival to sovereignty, you must dissolve the energetic and intellectual blockages that obscure your inherent fullness. This is the work of recognizing your true nature, as described in the Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam and Tantra Illuminated.
How Chakralytics offers to provide support in your journey toward sovereign stability.
Chakras are commonly known as seven main energy centers that shape our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. While interpretations vary across traditions, we find that this sevenfold framework may offer a powerful lens for self-awareness and energetic harmonization. Chakralytics seeks to honor and adapt this ancient system for contemporary self-awareness and energetic insight.
By intuitive self-assessments, Chakralytics generates a dynamic snapshot of your chakra system, according to the Chakralytics Framework. From root to crown. In this way you may discover which centers are thriving, which may need attention, and how your energy evolves over time. Each individual Chakra Assessment focuses on three major themes of our lived experience.
If you feel anxiety when thinking about the future, that anxiety is not just psychological. It is an energetic contraction.
